RECYCLED MATERIALS
At JOHNNYLOVE, we have long experience with working with recycled raw materials. We only choose recycled materials when it can be done without compromising on quality.
RECYCLED DOWN
Our down jackets are all made with certified recycled down. We buy GRS certified down from Re:Down, who which source the down mainly from beddings where outershell is damaged. The down itself has high value and is therefore perfect for recycling. RECYCLED POLYESTER
All our polyester outershells are made from recycled raw material, as plastic can be recycled without losing quality. Our recycled polyester are GRS certified.
In production polyester fabric has a rather small ecological footprint, in use it is very durable and has great colourfastness, which can give garments a long life. The downside of polyester and other plastics is the damage it can do if it ends up as waste in landfills or the ocean. It is therefore very important that polyester is put to the right use, and that is recycled post-consumer. We use recycled polyester to put focus on the reuse of the planets resources- hoping that the increasing demand for recycled plastic will result in a better circularity for polyester goods.
RECYCLED WOOL
We make coats and jacket from recycled wool,FORTEX SPA – Italy. They have focused on using recycled wool since the starting of the company in 1963.
The recycled wool is collected waste from other wool mills in Europe, which gives Fortex control over the content and chemicals used.
The Recycled wool is certified by Fortex Spa and not by GRS. The reason for this is that the certification would increase the price of the garments too much, given our low quantities produced.
