RECYCLED WOOL

 In 2025 we started making outerwear insulated with a wadding of recycled wool. Wool has unique temperature- and moisture-regulating properties.  The wool wadding thus provides a comfortable warmth, without overheating, even when the temperature or activity level varies.

For our technical jackets we have a wadding from Re:Wool®. Re:wool uses production waste from the wool yarn spinners to make a high-performance insulation that is soft, breathable, and 100% natural. In the production process, the wool offcuts are  broken down and transformed into light, fluffy fibers. The wool fibers are blended with a Polylactic Acid (PLA) for strenght. PLA is a biosourced fiber made out of corn sugar. Using a mechanical and thermal process, several thin sheets of this mixture is layered, creating a fiberweb that is the wadding. The final product is made up of 80% recycled wool and 20% PLA, and is completely biodegradable.

For our wool jackets made in Europe, we have a wadding from Lavalan, called lavalan®re. It is made in much the same way as for Re:wool, with 80% wool and 20% PLA. Lavalan®re is partly made from recycled wool, and part virgin wool. The virgin wool used for this product does not reach the quality level required for yarns, and would also normally be considered waste, as it is not economically interesting. The recycled wool is made of production waste from the Norwegian textile industry. This is collected and processed by our friends at Sirkull As, before sent to Lavalan's production site in Germany. Lavanlan only uses traceable European wool.
